Advocacy

Influencing change for credit unions, CUSOs, and our members.
PROTECTING THE CUSO MODEL

Your voice in the rooms where the rules are written

The regulatory and statutory framework governing CUSOs has remained largely unchanged for decades, even as the industry around it has transformed. NACUSO shows up in Washington and in statehouses to make sure that gap doesn’t go unanswered. We represent the CUSO community directly to regulators, policymakers, and industry partners.

When the rules get rewritten, we’re already in the room.

Our advocacy tenets

Modernizing outdated frameworks, improving transparency, and making sure the CUSO community has a seat at the table.

CUSO investment cap

Today's cap on credit union investment in CUSOs hasn't kept pace with how collaboration actually works. NACUSO continues to push for modernization that reflects the scale and complexity of CUSOs operating now.

Data and transparency

Policymakers can't evaluate what they can't see. NACUSO is working to build reliable, system-wide data on CUSO scale and impact. We believe this will be the foundation for any serious regulatory conversation.

Coalition, collaboration

Credit unions, leagues, trade associations and regulators share one goal: to support a system strong enough to keep serving members. NACUSO ensures the CUSO perspective is always part of that conversation.
